30 Years Maketh the Man

York Guns celebrate 30 years in the trade

May 1980, King Street, York; John Smith opens the doors to York Guns for the first time, 30 years later with 18 staff, expansion into trade, movement to larger premises in Dunnington, York and Gary Hyde joining John at the helm; we are still thriving.

It’s an exciting year for all concerned and we are extremely aware that if it wasn’t for our loyal base of customers and passionate and knowledgeable staff members we wouldn’t be where we are today. We are still in the planning stages of what we are doing for next year, but are looking at several options - an open day at a local shooting ground around about springtime to mark the original opening of the shop with giveaways etc. giveaways in store, sponsorship of events etc.

These are all still in the pipeline but we will keep you all informed of any events and promotions. Watch this space…

Beretta Open Day

A great day was had by all at our Beretta Premium Dealer Open Day on Saturday 8th August. Glorious weather ensured a good turnout and everything was in place for a perfect shooting day. We had a great selection of the new models from Beretta including the UGB-Excel and the Arrieta range of quality side lock side by sides.

The York Guns Ltd 50 bird compact sporting open shoot, high gun prize of a Beretta 20b Silver Pigeon shotgun was won by John Lee after a very tense 25 bird shoot-off had to take place between John, Jordan Gray and Paul Wilkinson due to a tie on score of 44.
Results as follows:

Winner: John Lee (44 + 25)
Runner Up:Jordan Gray(44 + 20)
3rd Place:Paul Wilkinson(44 + 19)
Ladies: Rosie Brumby (31)
Junior: Oliver Johnson (34)

So we’d just like to thank Simon Morgan and Matt Beckett from GMK, everyone at East Yorkshire Gun Club for providing a great venue & more and of course our guys; Mr Gary Hyde himself, Mike Bratley, Patti Hopwood and Ella Hopwood for all their hard work.

Looking forward to another event soon!
